1) Concept;-
It one of the six principal organs of the United Nations (UN),it responsible for the economic, social, humanitarian, and cultural activities carried out by the UN. It is the UN’s largest and most complex subsidiary body.
2) Composition;-
It consist of 54 members they are elected by general assembly for the term of 3 years .1/3rd (18 members )of its member retire every year. The retired person is entitle for re election.
3) Power and function;-
I) To make or initiate the study regarding economics and social problems of the world
II) To ensure the observance of human right .
III) To assists the security council and general assembly.
IV) To hold conferences and seminar on the economics social and cultural issues of the world
4) Voting procedure;-
Each member of the Council has one vote.Decisions of the Economic and Social Council are made by a majority of the members present and voting.
