What is LAT

LAT stands for Law Admission Test; a test for those who want to become Law Graduate and pursuing career in the field of Law. It is just entry test like MDCAT ,ECAT, LAT is for Admission in LLB program. It has been prescribed by the Higher Education commission (HEC) on the directions of Supreme court of Pakistan. It may be termed as HEC LAT Test.
Literally Legum Baccalaureus generally known as LLB is the degree awarded to a person who graduates in Law. The degree of LLB is a base to pursue a career as a Lawyer, Consultant, Attorney, Judge etc.

HEC conducts LAT thrice a year.

  1. Students who have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or equivalent/Grade 12 education 
  2. Students who have appeared in the final examination of HSSC or equivalent/Grade 12 education and those awaiting results.

Total Marks are 100. And passing marks are 50.


There is no specified limit for giving the LAT. You can attempt it any number of times.

LAT Result remains valid for two years

  • Applicants who register through HEC online registration process will be able to download their roll number slip from http://etc.hec.gov.pk and registered email address a week before the test date. Email/ SMS will also be sent to registered applicants for test date, time and venue. While filling online application form, candidates are required to provide valid email/mobile number on which applicant wish to receive Roll Number Slip. 
  • Test Centre once selected will not be changed. 
  • A print of Roll Number Slip, Original fee deposit slip and Original CNIC will be required to enter the Test Centre on Test Day.
